Foreword

Let me tell you something that many preachers will not tell you.

You can be born again, Spirit-filled, tongue-talking, Bible-reading, church-attending, tithe-paying, and still be utterly defenceless against the schemes of the enemy.

How do I know this? Because I have watched it happen. I have watched bishops fall. I have watched prophets be deceived. I have watched sincere, God-fearing believers hand their lives over to diviners, thinking they were submitting to the Holy Spirit. I have watched marriages destroyed, ministries collapsed, and destinies derailed, not by witchcraft from outside, but by deception from within the body of Christ.

And I have experienced it myself.

There was a season in my own life when a diviner nearly led me away from my calling. He came dressed as a prophet. He was recommended by a bishop. He prophesied with stunning accuracy about things only God should know. And I believed him, until God, in His mercy, opened my eyes. If my wife had not discerned what I could not see, if the Holy Spirit had not awakened me from that slumber, you would not be reading this book today. There would be no Harvesters Global Church. There would be no Master Class. The enemy would have succeeded in diverting me from purpose into politics, from destiny into deception.

That experience, and many others like it, is why this book exists.

The anointing is not a luxury for the super-spiritual. It is not reserved for pastors and prophets. The anointing is the basic equipment every believer needs to survive, to serve, and to fulfil their God-given assignment. Without it, you are a soldier in a war zone without armour. With it, no spell can land on you, no curse can hold you, no demon can touch you.

This book is mentorship in written form. It is the same teaching I have poured into my spiritual sons and daughters in the Master Class at Harvesters Global Church. It comes from decades of pastoral experience, from battles I have fought and won, from traps I have escaped and lessons I have learned.

Some of what you will read here will surprise you. Some will disturb you. Some will make you deeply grateful that God led you to this book before the enemy led you somewhere else.

Read with an open heart. And may the Holy Spirit Himself teach you as you turn these pages.

Introduction: Why This Book Exists

Before we begin, I need to be very direct with you about something.

This is not a theological textbook about the Holy Spirit. This is not an academic examination of pneumatology. This is not a collection of sermons about spiritual gifts arranged in a nice order for your reading pleasure.

This is a survival manual.

You are living in the most deceptive era in human history. The Bible warned us about it, in the last days, deception would be so fierce that even the very elect would be at risk of being misled. We are in those days now. And the greatest threat to your destiny is not witchcraft from the village. It is not the devil appearing with horns and a pitchfork. The greatest threat to your destiny is counterfeit anointing, spiritual power that looks like God but operates from the pit of hell.

I have seen too much to keep quiet.

I have seen a prophet write his telephone number on a piece of paper, hand it to a young woman in church, and sleep with her that very night, while the bishop who invited him praised God for the mighty conference. I have seen a diviner convince a devoted man to sell his family heirloom because "God said so," and that man lost everything. I have watched an elder in my own church get taken by a spirit of divination and lead three hundred people away from the church, only for every one of them to scatter like sheep without a shepherd when the deception was exposed.

And I have sat in my own office, holding a walking stick that a diviner told me would make me a great politician, while the calling of God, the very ministry you are benefiting from today, hung in the balance.

This book exists because good people are destroyed when they lack knowledge.

Hosea 4:6 is not a warning for sinners. It is a warning for God's own people: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Not the world's people. My people. People who love God. People who pray. People who serve. People who give. They are destroyed, not by sin, not by rebellion, but by ignorance.

What You Will Learn

In the chapters that follow, I will teach you:

This is not theory. Every principle in this book has been tested in the fire of real ministry, real spiritual warfare, and real encounters with both the Holy Spirit and the kingdom of darkness.

How to Read This Book

Let me give you the same instructions I give my Master Class students.

First, pray before you read. Before each chapter, take a moment and say:

"Holy Spirit, I open my heart and my mind for You. Give me understanding. I love the Lord Jesus so much, and I want to walk with Him, to do His will, to function the way He wants. You have every permission to allow me to understand what God wants me to be, to become, and to do for His kingdom. I am willing, in Jesus' name."

Second, take notes. Some of what you will read here you have never heard in any church, from any preacher, in any conference. Write it down. Mark it. Highlight it. Come back to it.

Third, be attentive. Some things you are reading for the first time. They will challenge traditions you have held for years. Do not dismiss them because they are unfamiliar. Test them against Scripture.

Fourth, apply what you learn. Knowledge without application is useless. Every chapter ends with reflection questions and a prayer. Do not skip them. They are the mentorship exercises that will embed these truths into your life.

Fifth, be honest with yourself. As you read the chapters on divination, some of you will recognise your own story. You will realise you have been deceived. You will see that someone you trusted was operating under a familiar spirit. Do not be ashamed. Come to God with it. He is merciful and He is faithful.

Now, let us begin.
