Let me tell you about a man I know. He is not a preacher. He has never been behind a pulpit at Harvesters Global Church — not as a main speaker, anyway. But he arrives every Sunday morning before seven o'clock. He sets up the chairs, checks the sound system, makes sure the car park is orderly, and stays after every service to ensure the premises are left clean and secure. He has been doing this for years. Without fail. Without complaint. Without an ounce of entitlement about recognition.
In the eyes of the world, he is "just a helper." In the eyes of God, he is walking in a legitimate Holy Spirit–gifted calling that is listed in Scripture alongside apostles and prophets.
That is the truth I want to communicate in this introduction: the Ministry of Helps is not a stepping stone to a "real" ministry. For many believers, it IS their real ministry. And the sooner we understand that, the sooner we will stop treating it as the ecclesiastical equivalent of the waiting room, and start honouring it for what it is — a divine assignment.
The problem in most churches is that nobody teaches this. Helpers are recruited, trained in tasks, and released to serve — but rarely are they given a theological framework that elevates their service from duty to calling. They know what to do but not why it is sacred. They know how to serve but not the spiritual weight of what they carry when they serve faithfully with the right heart.
